In 1937, Shigeichi and Yukie Nakamoto had one vision: To share the highest quality flowers with Hawai‘i. Driven by a desire to make people smile, the couple opened Beretania Florist on Nov. 19, 1937, in Honolulu.
Eighty years later, their vision for a happy and beautiful community lives on through one simple gesture: the gift of a flower.
Today, Beretania Florist continues to thrive, and currently is owned and operated by Celeste Nakamoto Farinas — Shigeichi and Yukie's granddaughter. Had the beautiful Farm to Vase arrangement delivered to my Mom for her (posthumous) wedding anniversary. She was out all day and came home to it carefully placed (out of the direct sunlight). I watched through her Ring camera as the sweet delivery man gently placed it down and left her a message as to where he was leaving it. Such beautiful, fresh flowers! Disappointed with the shape and size of the "upgrade Premium" bouquet I purchased. Did not look like the one pictured here. I really appreciated their flexibility. This flower was for our anniversary and asked Florist to deliver it to restaurant. The 24 Rose arrangement was better than the picture! The long stem roses were larger than you would expect and the foliage in between each rose was a masterpiece by itself. All in all, Mom was extremely happy and I would definitely recommend Beretania Florist to a friend!

Beretania Florist did not disappoint! Every year I order and have a floral arrangement delivered to my dear aunt in Honolulu. She turned 88 years young this year. The special tropical deluxe order was even more beautiful than the picture. Additionally, the pincusions were out of season so Beretania substituted with a protea. So thoughtful. I was very thankful that there was a website to be able to send flowers to my friend on her birthday while she was away on vacation. I specifically chose an all pink and green flower arrangement because those are her favorite colors. My friend, who is suffering with a virulent strain of the COVID virus. She was so thrilled with the arrange that she cried. She said it was just beautiful. I have ordered flowers from Beretania for about 5 years and we were very satisfied in the past. For this Valentine`s day, I ordered the premium Victoria Bouquet and found that there were more green leaves to fill the vase as compared to before. The roses and lilies were somewhat smaller, and the white hydrangea was very large, to fill the space (?). My guess is that the costs are going up, so for similar pricing as before, there were some cuts.
Also, the delivery date choice nearest Valentine`s day was Feb. 9 with an order date of Feb. 5. Possibly staff shortage? Would have liked delivery closer to Feb.14.

My only disappointment was the size of the banner. I had expected it to be bigger, like a sash, the went across the entire wreath. I have ordered lei from your store a few times before and have never been disappointed. However, this time I was. I ordered the Double Ti Leaf “maile” wrapped w/orchid, however, there was no maile in the lei. For the expensive price, I never gave it a thought that it wouldn’t be. When I opened up the container, I noticed that the lei didn’t look full like a maile usually does. Then after inspecting it closer, I noticed that it was just a ti leaf lei with an orchid lei wrapped around. I felt that the advertisement is misleading. I don’t think it should be advertised as a “maile” lei at all.

I was disappointed with the arrangement that was delivered to a business client. I paid the premium price and when my client texted me a photo of what she had received, I saw that it didn't have the same "feel" as the arrangement in the florist's website photo (that looked soft and pretty with pale pinks and some peach colored flowers with some cream colored flowers too). I had written a note when placing the order to please get as close to the website photo as possible. The arrangement that was delivered had dark-tipped cream color roses (edged in a dark red) that I thought made the arrangement look garish and cheap, unfortunately. I called the shop to share my disappointment and the young woman who answered didn't offer an apology for the shop not meeting my expectations. I am sorry that I will go elsewhere the next time I want to order a flower arrangement in Honolulu.

The arrangement was gorgeous and surprisingly huge! I didn’t realize how big it was until I picked it up, it is literally the same height as my 4 year old and possibly just as wide as he is tall! Loved the quick response and timeliness of the floral delivery, however the arrangement was lacking greatly from the florals and colors I chose. I understand that bouquets can vary due to flower availability, but I was disappointed with the quality and color of the finished product. Namely, I wanted the arrangement to have the coral colors (any varietal of flower would have been fine) and incorporate orchids (any type), as shown. Those specific elements - coral colors and orchids were deciding factors in choosing this specific bouquet. In short, fast service but not satisfied with the flowers.

Frist time customer and last time customer. Hands down I don't like to write these type of bad reviews. I was really upset with this florist. Maybe I was just the unfortunate customer that had a bad experience. I've placed an order online and had requested a certain date for delivery, paid for it. Soon after an email confirmation and receipt was received. A few days prior I decided that I wanted to cancel the delivery and pick my paid arrangement instead. I reply to the email confirmation that was sent directly to their general email box. No reply after a day, so I called them. A girl answers and seems so confused. After she found my order she tells me the delivery is for 11/17, which I told her no, that is not what is on my order I placed. That I am double checking it now and it stated the 18th not 17th. After she figured it out, she confirms that that they will hold my order dated for 11/18/21 so I can come and pick up. Day off I go there and she still looks confused. Then tells me she can't find my arrangement. Then goes back and finds it again, comes out with an orchid floral arrangement. I tell her this is not my order. That I padi for a bigger arrangement with tropical flowers. She goes back again then another lady comes out. The lady finds my order and tells me it was delivered this morning. Upset, I told her how can they get this so confused. The order is so simple and I've done all I can to make it easy for them by calling ahead and also confirming. She does apologize but I wonder if she was really sorry because she didn't say much. I then had to ask for a refund for the delivery and tip. Without argument she agrees to refund me and applied it soon after I left. I will never use this florist again. I should of stuck with Watanabe but I figured to try Beretania.

Ordered this bouquet specially for the protea. I received an email saying the protea were out of stock and out of season so they would be substituted with anthurium and other tropicals. I called because I didn't want the substitutes as my recipient had received all of those already. When the bouquet was delivered, there were proteas as shown. I have no idea how or where they get them, but kudos to Beretania Florist for delivering what was purchased. Mahalo nui loa!

Beretania Florist went above and beyond in fulfilling a daughter's wish to have a birthday lei placed on her father's grave at Punchbowl. Not only did they display the lei beautifully in a gorgeous heart shape on his grave but were gracious enough to provide me with a picture. Overall my experience was just a 2-3 stars ordering online the picture above shows the flower colors and it doesn’t say colors may vary. After you purchased it you get a confirmation. Then later you get email receipt then it says colors may vary. On the pick up date I received it. The colors for the roses I bought supposedly be like in the pic but instead got red,white, and yellow. Was kinda disappointed since paying little over $100 I get those colors. I gave it a 3 cause the person I gave it to still like the roses.

Please explain how you can show a picture with about 5-6 orchids on your website, then send your customer 1 flower with the rest buds. I ordered a sympathy arrangement online with a 12/15/20 delivery date. They charge a $40 delivery fee to the west side which is steep, but at least they deliver to the west side. They called the afternoon of 12/15 to say they had no courier to deliver, but that they would now deliver on 12/16. At 4:59 on 12/15 they emailed me a delivery confirmation for the future stating my flowers had been delivered 12/16. I assume that the flowers were indeed delivered on 12/16, but have lost faith in their systems and service at this point.

It is difficult to comment on the arrangement as delivered, since I never saw it. All I can say with certainty is that the recipient was pleased. You may want to try the approach I've seen used by other florists, taking a picture of the arrangement as it was actually prepared, rather than providing only a staged "catalogue" shot.

Some of the orchids looked slightly withered and translucent when I received it. Next day one of the orchids totally withered up and others aren’t looking too good. Looks like some orchids had been cut off the branch prior to delivery so there was empty spaces on the branch so plant must have been old. My husband got me an orchid because he knows I love them and they last a long time. Unfortunately, not in this case. Disappointed as I know my husband must have spent a lot since it was Mother’s Day.

The lei was beautiful and the instructions to "revive" it after a 2 day shipment worked. Only reason I did not give a 5 star is that I think it should have been shipped in a long box, stretched out rather than the square container which crunched it. Have used your florist many times and you used to send the lei in a long container.

My brother sent a photo of the bouquet and unfortunately I was disappointed because I thought there would be many more sunflowers--but he told me there was only ONE sunflower. I realize that you mention there may have to be substitutions, but I would have hoped for at least 3 or 4 sunflowers.

Unfortunately, my son said that his maile lei fell apart at the prom! He said when they were just walking to the venue from the parking area, pieces started to fall out and by dinner, the whole lei broke apart! So disappointing, especially since it costed $65! Wow, $70 for some flowers in a Ball jar.... Seriously did not look anything like the pic except the fact it has roses and baby's breath. The flowers were not upright like the pic of the arrangement I ordered nor in a container that kept them upright. They all were spread out like they were just sloppily thrown together. It was beautiful. But I ordered and paid for the Deluxe arrangement because I thought it would have more flowers then the standard photo on website. Deluxe stated more flowers would be added. I would only give one star, or less. Yesterday was my Aunt's 90th birthday - a huge occasion. I ordered the Sweetheart Tropical Bouquet because I liked the arrangement and colors and definitely wanted something OTHER than red and green. What I got was the Beretania's Lovely Hawaiian Tropical Bouquet - red and green - with a few more red round flowers stuck in - essentially NOT what I ordered - and what looks like a bouquet that was $20 less than the one I ordered. Also, there was no balloon that I also ordered. In addition, apparently it wasn't even delivered until the evening as they did not find the bouquet until 7:15pm. I would like a refund.

This clearly has roses in it, and is pricey compared to other local florists that could have shipped from California to Honolulu. My mom sent me a picture and it only had carnations. What a rip off! They should have discounted this bouquet at least 1/3 off since they skipped the roses. I wouldn’t order from this florist again. Going to Watanabe Floral instead.

Beretania Florist used to allow the sender/customer to provide a personal card addressed to the person receiving the gift but has since changed that policy. I didn't know about it and wrote a personal card to attach to the delivery that I hand carried to BF as I do every year and it was not accepted. Other than that the flowers were delivered in a timely manner and the bouquet was enjoyed and appreciated. The flowers were fresh and colors nice.

ease of ordering and nice selection. I was disappointed in the arrangement she received. I upgraded the order and there was mostly greenery. I selected the arrangement for the beautiful fullness of yellow flowers yet the arrangement was mostly green. Even the protea was a green mink and not the pin cushion. Yes, minks are more expensive, but I am still not happy with the flowers. My friend sent a picture and was thankful...but she would not tell me otherwise.

My first delivery address posed difficulties because it's a secured military installation (Ford Island). I had initially thought that deliveries might still be OK but turned out to be wrong. The florist contacted me for an alternative delivery address and had it delivered that day, I believe after hours. I would have given them a five star across the board if they had read my special instructions to not call the recipient to set up the deliver until after 1:30 pm as she sleeps during the morning. Each local florist sets their own delivery area and fee.
Most florists offer same-day hand delivery, but may have different order received
