BloomNation vs. Teleflora

BloomNation is an all-in-one website and point-of-sale (POS) platform for independent florists: software built so a shop can run and grow its own brand, prices, and customers in one system.

Teleflora is one of the best-known names in flowers. For florists, it offers shop software (Dove POS), florist websites (eFlorist), and membership in the Dove Network wire service. This is a fair, factual comparison, not a takedown, and it sticks to what each company’s own materials say. But the two companies were built to do different things. BloomNation is a technology company built to make local florists independent: their own brand, website, customers, and margins. Teleflora was founded in 1934 as a wire service that brokers orders to local florists, and that order-brokering network is still at the core of what it offers florists today.

Different by design: a software company vs. a wire service

This is the distinction that shapes everything else. BloomNation was built from the ground up as software to help a local florist run and grow their own branded business: their own site, their own customers, their own prices. Teleflora began in 1934 as Telegraph Delivery Service, a wire service that brokers orders between florists, and that brokering network, today the Dove Network, is still what its florist membership is built around. Teleflora also sells flowers directly to consumers at Teleflora.com and routes those orders to member florists. Both companies offer florist software today, but one exists to help you build your own business and the other exists to move orders across a shared network. Put simply: Teleflora is built around fulfilling orders that move across a network, while BloomNation is built around helping you gain and keep your own customers.

What Teleflora offers florists

Teleflora is a floral wire service, founded in 1934 and a subsidiary of The Wonderful Company since 1979, that brokers orders to local florists for delivery. For florists, its technology includes Dove POS, a florist point-of-sale and shop-management system, alongside additional POS options (RTI Total Shop Management, Eagle, and Daisy). Teleflora also offers eFlorist, an e-commerce website platform for florists that integrates with Dove POS so products, pricing, fees, and orders stay aligned. Its member order and communications network is the Dove Network. Separately, Teleflora sells flowers to the public at Teleflora.com and routes those orders to member florists.

What BloomNation is

BloomNation is an all-in-one platform built for a florist’s own shop. In one native system you get a branded website with an integrated POS, delivery routing with zones and same-day cutoffs, events, proposals and invoicing, recipes, purchase orders and inventory, house accounts, and built-in SEO and Google Business Profile tools. On top of that, BloomNation runs a marketplace that connects florists with more customers and can send additional orders. Unlike a wire or order-gatherer order, those run through the florist’s own storefront and POS, and the customer becomes the florist’s to keep.

Both cover the basics

On a feature checklist, Teleflora’s own materials list the core tools a shop needs, a POS, a website, order management, and marketing, and so does BloomNation (we’re describing features, not rating performance). So the decision isn’t the checklist. It’s the model, and who ends up owning your brand and your customers.

The difference in plain terms

The biggest distinction isn’t the feature checklist. It’s that Teleflora is a membership wire service that also sells flowers directly to consumers under its own brand, routing those orders to florists. On a wire order, you are fulfilling someone else’s catalog product at a price you did not set, and the customer stays with the network. On your own storefront, it is your design, your price, and your customer to keep. BloomNation doesn’t run a competing consumer brand; our marketplace exists to send customers to your shop and let you keep them. And because BloomNation’s website and POS are one native platform rather than a shop system paired with a separate website product, there’s less to stitch together.

What florists say

BloomNation is highly rated by florists on review sites like G2 and Capterra, and the reviews include florists who moved over from Teleflora. One, who describes herself as a former Teleflora website owner, highlighted being able to feature her own designs:

“Allows each florist to feature our own designs, along with stock photos, if desired. Very easy to add your own images.”Verified florist review, Capterra

When Teleflora makes sense

If a large share of your business comes from sending and receiving wire/relay orders across a national network, Teleflora’s membership and the Dove Network are built for exactly that, and it’s a long-established option. If you’d rather own your storefront, products, pricing, and customers in one native system and pick up extra orders from a marketplace that hands the customer to you, that’s what BloomNation is for.

Frequently asked questions

Is Teleflora a wire service?

Yes. Teleflora is a floral wire service that brokers orders to local florists through the Dove Network, and it also provides florist software (Dove POS) and websites (eFlorist).

Does Teleflora give florists a website and POS?

Yes. Dove POS is Teleflora’s florist point-of-sale and shop-management system, and eFlorist is its website platform, which integrates with Dove POS.

How is BloomNation different from Teleflora?

BloomNation is a standalone all-in-one platform (website and POS native in one system) with an optional marketplace where the customer becomes yours. It doesn’t require wire-network membership and doesn’t run a competing consumer flower brand.

Does BloomNation have a marketplace like Teleflora.com?

BloomNation has a marketplace that connects florists with more customers and can send additional orders, but those run through the florist’s own storefront and POS and the buyer becomes the florist’s customer, rather than a network order owned by a consumer brand.

Can I use BloomNation and still take wire orders?

Yes. BloomNation doesn’t require exclusivity, so you can run your shop on BloomNation and still belong to a wire service if you choose.
