Choosing the right florist platform as your partner is one of the most important decisions you’ll make as a business owner. But just like in relationships, there are red flags to watch out for. Here are five that should raise concern:

1. They take a big cut of what you earn.

If your platform partner is charging 20-40% commission on every order, you’re essentially working hard to fund their growth, not yours. It’s a one-sided relationship, and you deserve better.

2. They force you into a box.

If you’re required to purchase their vases and supplies or crank out the same cookie-cutter arrangements as everyone else, they’re not respecting your creativity. Your designs should be as unique as you are.

3. Hidden costs keep popping up.

When there’s a fee for everything—license fees, transmission fees, membership fees, advertising fees—it feels like you’re always picking up the tab.. That’s not what you signed up for!

4. They punish you for saying no.

If your platform penalizes you for declining wire orders, it’s like being in a relationship where you can’t say no without facing consequences. You deserve the freedom to make the best decisions for your business.

5. They keep things from you.

Repeat customers are key to growing your business, but if your platform doesn’t share customer information with you, it’s like being left in the dark. How can you build loyalty if they’re keeping all the info to themselves?
