The Crimson Petal Inc.
Since June 1, 2010, The Crimson Petal Florist has been creating beautiful, distinctive floral arrangements from our enchanting shop on Needham Street. We are completely independent, owned by local resident Lee Hagopian, and staffed by three delightful, friendly and highly experienced designers. It's safe to say that we all come to work each day with enthusiasm and delight to create custom pieces for you. From the smallest bouquet or corsage to funerals, large events, weddings and corporate events, the Crimson Petal will handle any task with professionalism. As you take some time to peruse our website, keep the following things in mind. Our number one goal at Crimson Petal is to provide excellence. Each day, we strive to provide the largest selection of cut flowers in our 24-foot walkin cooler, the freshest blooms hand-picked from the Boston Flower Market and expert design skills. As the proud owner of the Crimson Petal, I want to tell you personally that I highly value and respect you, my valued customer. Lee Hagopian
I've heard it said many times that I am so fortunate to be doing something I love for my livelihood. And I totally agree! The Crimson Petal was created on a day in 2010 when every single star aligned for me, and I will forever be grateful for the opportunity I seized. You see, I was going through the divorce of my 21-year marriage with so many paths to choose. Just at that moment, the flower shop under another name was being sold. I worked there as a floral designer. I seized the opportunity, bought the shop and The Crimson Petal was born. I do love what I do, I am passionate, I'm certainly experienced and I have a team of women working with me who are also as passionate and experienced as I. All the stars aligned. For sure!

This bouquet was pretty, but modest and disappointing. I was out of town and so ordered a bouquet for my wife’s birthday.
I paid $100 plus tax/delivery and imagined a fairly large bouquet that would be appropriate for my wife’s 70th birthday. What I got for the total cost of ~$112 was a little square vase holding 9 roses, some rununculous, snap dragons, 3 baby callaliies. Just doesn’t seem like a bountiful bouquet.
On the positive side - the flowers are in great shape and the arrangement arrived on time.
Guess I should have called instead of ordering it online…….

I'm not sure why you 'imagined' a fairly large bouquet. There was a very clear picture on the website showing the size/style of the vase. Your wife received some of the finest blooms I carry all selected fresh by me personally at the flower market. The Dutch magenta Calla lilies I used are $12 each and are a unique and gorgeous color. You will find they last more than a week. A dozen roses cost $85, you received 9 roses, having just arrived fresh that morning. I was being interviewed for a story on WCVB shortly after finishing your wife's arrangement. The reporter picked it from many others on the design bench and remarked on how beautiful it was. I always do my best to please my customers. Although I'd rather have received a 5-star review, I understand that I can't please all of the people all of the time. And I also know that the value of the arrangement I made was the value represented on my website. I suppose we can agree to disagree this time. Have a nice evening.

The picture has white roses and orchids. I paid a large amount of money for a deluxe version. The flowers my mother received had no orchids. It had red roses, which I really dislike (and which are inappropriate in my opinion as my 79 year old mother's birthday gift. Red roses are a flower of romance). It also had white chysanthemums, which I consider to be a cheap looking flower, and even which I associate with funerals. I was really disappointed. The positives were reliable delivery and I liked the video message option.

This was my second order with Crimson Petal and they didn't disappoint. Both times my the orders was delivered in time, the bouquets have been exquisite and long-lasting (at least the first one) but most importantly the customer service is stellar. One repeating issue that bothers me:
My profile on your web site is uncomplete, the systems refuses to accept my phone number because it is not an American number.
I use your service for ~10 years and I bump into this issue every year...
I am forced to put my daughter phone number on both sender and receiver profiles....

(from NH's Monadnock Region:) When ordering flowers long-distance, I prefer to order directly from vendors who are located near the recipient. After a little bit of online research, I came across Crimson Petal. I ordered a deluxe version of the new Sweet Peaches and Apricots design and I requested that the arrangement be delivered to a nearby church. Two days later, when I saw the arrangement in person, I was very pleased. Exactly as shown, with additional roses added. It was lovely. Nice job! Thank you!

Easy to order. Nice bouquet, but not entirely like the photo offer. Delivered in good order, but ignored the delivery time I specified without telling me, despite the warning that I should be available to accept delivery of fragile flowers. Thus, mixed/mostly good experience.

You are correct, the actual delivered arrangement was not 'entirely like the photo offer' as you said. It was, in my opinion, better. Before sharing why I think it was better I’d like you to read the contents of our Substitution Policy below. This passage prominently featured beneath the photo of each and every arrangement offered on our website.
Substitution Policy
In some instances, our photo may represent an overall theme or look and include a one-of-a-kind vase which cannot be exactly replicated.
Although the actual bouquet may not precisely match the photo, its temperament will. Occasionally, substitutions of flowers and/or containers happen due to weather, seasonality and market conditions which may affect availability. If this is the case with the gift you’ve selected, we will ensure that the style, theme and color scheme of your arrangement is preserved and will only substitute items of equal value or higher value.
If any design elements are of major importance to your order, please include them in the florist instructions at checkout or contact us to ensure availability.
Every florist has this type of policy. And not because we want to mislead our customers. I would have no motive to show a photo online and deliver something wholly different. But, practically speaking, it is impossible to carry all of the flowers for 125 website arrangements, all of the time. If we absolutely can not duplicate an arrangement chosen from our website or even come close, then I will contact the customer with the option to choose something else. I review the website almost every night to make sure I keep a fully stocked cooler to make the items featured. I will delete items online if I know we’ve sold out of things, and vice verse. We do a pretty good job with that, and it takes a lot of time and effort.
What you reference as being 'not entirely like the photo' is what I see as our attempt to create the look and feel of an arrangement in spite of the fact that we may be missing several flowers pictured. My company policy is to use equal or better value flowers if substitution is necessary. I think it is infeasible to expect exact replicas, and the beauty of art in my opinion is for the designer to know his/her flowers well enough so that he/she can achieve the same or better outcome with comparable blooms that are seasonally available.
For instance, we were not able to source burgundy Amaranthus on Friday, so I substituted with a lovely mauve Celosia, a premium flower with a similar and unique impact on the arrangement. I did not have variegated ruby red/white dahlia, so I provided lovely, fresh white dahlia. I also chose to use fine beautiful pale pink/white dendrobium orchids not to substitute anything, but to add beauty and style to the arrangement. I had just purchased them and thought they'd be lovely in your anniversary gift, so I used them. The items I subbed in made the arrangement better in my opinion.
And one more thing, I did not ignore your delivery time request. Like most busy florists, we do not guarantee delivery times. Instead, we do the best we can to fulfill special requests unless of course needed for a special event. Some florists charge an extra fee nowadays for timed delivery, usually $10, but I have chosen not to do this and have found most customers very flexible. Please remember, finding reliable help is a great challenge. After lengthy searches, we have finally found two drivers who are excellent, both of them arriving at noon and delivering until about 4 pm each day. Since you ordered for 11 a.m. we were unable to fulfill your request. I have decided to do as many of my fellow florists do and let customers know that timed deliveries are generally unavailable, and if one is required, a phone call to me is recommended.
I wish I did not have to spend time explaining all the nuances of my business. After 15 years, it is clear we are great at what we do. However, perfection in life is not realistic in my opinion. We can aim for perfection, but now and again, small glitches occur or differences of opinion may arise. In the end, please know that we appreciate each and every customer. I am thankful for your business and value the opportunity to address your concerns.

For instance, we were not able to source burgundy Amaranthus on Friday, so I substituted with a lovely mauve Celosia, a premium flower with a similar and unique impact on the arrangement. I did not have variegated ruby red/white dahlia, so I provided lovely, fresh white dahlia. I also chose to use fine beautiful pale pink/white dendrobium orchids not to substitute anything, but to add beauty and style to the arrangement. I had just purchased them and thought they'd be lovely in your anniversary gift, so I used them. The items I subbed in made the arrangement better in my opinion.
And one more thing, I did not ignore your delivery time request. Like most busy florists, we do not guarantee delivery times. Instead, we do the best we can to fulfill special requests unless of course needed for a special event. Some florists charge an extra fee nowadays for timed delivery, usually $10, but I have chosen not to do this and have found most customers very flexible. Please remember, finding reliable help is a great challenge. After lengthy searches, we have finally found two drivers who are excellent, both of them arriving at noon and delivering until about 4 pm each day. Since you ordered for 11 a.m. we were unable to fulfill your request. I have decided to do as many of my fellow florists do and let customers know that timed deliveries are generally unavailable, and if one is required, a phone call to me is recommended.
I wish I did not have to spend time explaining all the nuances of my business. After 15 years, it is clear we are great at what we do. However, perfection in life is not realistic in my opinion. We can aim for perfection, but now and again, small glitches occur or differences of opinion may arise. In the end, please know that we appreciate each and every customer. I am thankful for your business and value the opportunity to address your concerns.

I was disappointed with the size and contents for the cost 68.00 , with taxes , tip and delivery 92.81 . The photo representation on your site for the product was misleading. So, although the arrangement received did not look 'exactly' like the one online, I can assure you it was filled to value and was lovely, as all of our work is. We are well-regarded professionals, and we sure know how to handle situations when we don't have a particular flower or flowers. I bet those peonies are looking and smelling amazing in your friends dining room right about now. I sure hope so!

What a great experience with Crimson Petal! We had received some great news from our daughter in law and wanted to send her some flowers. As we live in a different state and I am unfamiliar with local florists where she is, I did the internet search. Great ratings, great pricing, and great customer service was what I read. Although they didn't have some of the flowers available for the arangement that I ordered, they offered alternative flowers and they were beautiful! As disappointed as I am to hear that you were not happy with the flowers you ordered, Pam, I'm even more disappointed that you have chosen to turn to the computer to shred my business without giving me a moment to discuss your concerns with you. The problem as I see it is that you present your case. And that is only one side of the story. One of your main complaints was that you did not receive a confirmation email until midnight. This was not true. Your confirmation was time-stamped 9:50pm. The flowers were delivered early in the afternoon. By me, actually. So sorry I fell asleep just after dinner and did not push the confirm button after my 11-hour work day. But more importantly, is it crucial that the confirmation did not get through until 9:50? You sent the flowers to your daughter, wasn't it simple to find out if they made it to their destination? The other issue for me is your complaint about the quality and composition of the arrangement. What does 'the first ever arrangement' a florist has made look like? I can assure you, it was made by a designer with many, many years of experience. Finally, apparently you did not read the disclaimer clearly displayed on every order page explaining our substitution policy. As well, you ignored our request for you to put requests in 'special instructions' if you want something particular (like peach roses) with no substitutions. I see every order being put out for delivery. Your arrangement was lovely in our opinion. I suppose you've been happy with us over the years, as you are a repeat customer. Perhaps this was a bad day for all of us.

I ordered from this Needham florist a delivery of flowers that I thought would be a nice surprise for my wife until she called upset over a conversation with the florist’s delivery driver apparently he couldn't find ‘A St’ in Needham as my wife tried to give him directions he starts arguing with her that there is no A St in Needham this went on for several minutes until she had to hang up because the guy at that point wouldn’t let her finish her sentence. I called florist at 1:30 got the VM I requesting some intervention and a call back to discuss the drivers unfortunate attitude they never return the call. The flowers were delivered two hours later.

What arrived was nothing like what I ordered. The website picture had all sorts of my mothers favorite flowers in it, what arrived had too much filler flowers. If I had known I wouldn’t have bothered with deluxe. Also, if you were not able to produce a likeness then you take the pic off the website and/or contact the customer so they can choose something else.

The Chambord' and Cream corsage received was much smaller made with four tiny flowers than what the photo shown. There were about seven flowers. I do understand that the corsage can't be exactly alike but I expect it to stay close to the demo. It was quite disappointing. And it was the least attractive corsage comparing to corsages at the party from other florists.

I was disappointed. I paid for a premium arrangement and the flowers were sparse for the money paid. I even indicated I would be seeing it personally but that was not helpful in the quality displayed.

As well, if you were to have comparison-shopped at my closest competitors, you'd have noticed that their comparable holiday centerpieces were easily $40 to $50 more than our premium price that you paid. Christmas Wishes was one of our most popular centerpieces this season and yours was the only complaint.

Pam, I'm surprised this comment is here. You must have written it prior to finding out I would rectify the problem immediately. Within 20 minutes of finding out the flowers were missing, I emailed Laurie and you. At 7 am next morning I updated Laurie. Then I sent a beautiful upgraded arrangement delivered by 10:30 in the morning. Then you sent me this email: "Thank you for correcting your error. Laurie has sent me a photo of the flowers. Thankyou! I have used you before and have always appreciated the beautiful work you do. I won’t hesitate to use you again.

Within 20 minutes of finding out the flowers were missing, I emailed Laurie and you. At 7 am next morning I updated Laurie. Then I sent a beautiful upgraded arrangement delivered by 10:30 in the morning. Then you sent me this email: "Thank you for correcting your error. Laurie has sent me a photo of the flowers. Thankyou! I have used you before and have always appreciated the beautiful work you do. I won’t hesitate to use you again.

As usual the arrangement was beautiful, my mom loved it. The only thing is I requested it be delivered to the back porch and it was delivered to the front door. I ask since my mother is fairly weak and has trouble with stairs. She had to carry the flowers by putting them down on each step as she went up.

Our niece sent me a picture of the arrangement, and it really didn't look like the picture online--I could see quite a few white roses, but no blue flowers, no blue ribbon, no block-vase. The flowers came out great! Just two small things that kept the experience from being 100% perfect; the note actually didn’t have anything printed/written on it (but this wasn’t too much of a problem). The slightly bigger issue I had has to do with the lack of communication when it came to pickup time and availability. I called several times (about 7 times) and left a message to confirm if the flowers were ready to be picked up, but I never got a hold of any employees. I just had to take a risk and go over and hope it was ready. Thankfully it was :). Overall, however, the flowers came out great!

As for the service, it was excellent! Very responsive and attentive staff. With that said, I wish the arrangement was more vibrant like the one I selected. There were no greens, the hydrangeas were not spread out nor were the purple flowers as displayed. It is bland and colorless and not inexpensive. Sorry to say I'm disappointed.

When you are ordering flowers from out of state, you are always taking a risk. This gamble paid off. My friend was delighted with the arrangement. But what really impressed me is that the delivery person called me to say that no one was home and because it was starting to rain, he was concerned about leaving the flowers on the front porch where they might get wet. He went around the back to find a more protected location and called back to let me know so that I could text my friend. All worked out perfectly. The bouquet was beautiful and much appreciated by the recipient. She loves the colors and liked the vase too. The only problem is that it must have been delivered after 4:00 p.m. when she was upstairs on Zoom. Assuming the delivery person rang the bell, she did not hear it. She did not retrieve the flowers from her porch until I called her around 6:00 p.m. to see if there had been any delivery. Then she went out and found them on the porch. Perhaps your delivery person could call either the recipient or the giver if the door is unanswered to make sure the recipient knows where the gift was left.Thank you.

Overall, I was pleased with the “Walk in the Woods” arrangement I had sent. As the recipient’s favorite color is purple, I was delighted and grateful to see that they had accommodated my special request for some lavender roses. My only disappointment was the fact that my friend’s name was misspelled in the personalized note. However, I picked a "deluxe" arrangement and I have to say that the one received was in a smaller container (so it was packed with buds) but it didn't look quite as lush as the basic one in the photo that is displayed on the website. I saw a photo of what you delivered and was really disappointed. Orange Gerberas are not a nice substitute for the peach roses in the advertised arrangement. They looked cheap and gaudy, exactly what I didn't want. This arrangement appears to be rounded whereas what you delivered was spiky and sparse. The recipient didn't say anything, but her daughter was clearly disappointed that I would send something so mediocre. Do not disturb the recipient by contacting her with a request for a review or to try to substitute the arrangement with something else. I will not use you again, and doubt that my friend and her family would either. An embarrassing experience for me.

The arrangement was beautiful but it was much smaller than expected- especially considering that I paid extra to upgrade to a larger arrangement. (I usually find this to be the case when I order flowers to be sent to someone but it was especially true this time. I have much better luck going into the florist shop and bringing the flowers to the recipient myself but that's not always practical.) When I saw them again two days after delivery, some of the flowers were already wilted. That should not be the case. So beautiful arrangement but very poor value for the money and no staying power. I won't use The Crimson Petal again.

I am very picky about flowers. I needed to send flowers to my niece, and was nervous to order them from a place that I didn't know, but I saw good reviews so I tried Crimson Petal. I ordered a bouquet online and they were gorgeous. My sister-in-law and niece raved about how gorgeous the flowers were! I ordered flowers for a colleague post-surgery and she wrote to share how beautiful they were and such a sweet surprise to come home to. Crimson Petal did a great job with the arrangement but also took great care to make sure they could reach the recipient so they wouldn't have to leave them out in the ~20 degree cold weather.
