ABOUT THE STORE
Roy-al Flowers & Gifts

Roy-Al Flowers and Gifts began in 1974 as a partnership between florists Mr. Roy Bernard and Mr. Al Sonnier. Already having twenty years of experience at the inception of Roy-Al they proved to be long standing in the community by providing Lafayette and the surrounding areas quality, affordable arrangements with a singular goal - to please the customer. So much so that they were one of the first flower shops to open on the weekend to better accommodate their customers.

Leonard DeRouen

After over 25 years both Mr. Bernard and Mr. Sonnier retired and Mr. Leonard DeRouen took over. For the past decade he has carried on the original vision of Roy and Al to make Roy-Al Flowers and Gifts the place to find beautiful, unique arrangements, always keeping customer satisfaction a top priority.

The arrangement that was delivered looked NOTHING like the one that I ordered. Like not even close. I ordered the Breezy by the Sea arrangement which includes blues and purples, and what I got was full of pink roses (not the types of flowers that were advertised). I understand that substitutions have to be made sometimes depending on availability, but it would have been nice to have been notified because I would not have chosen this.

The arrangement is absolutely beautiful. My wife loves it. Will be centered on our dinner table for our family Christmas dinner.

While I appreciate the thoughtful consideration of a return phone call, after initiating a phone call after seeing hours on Saturday are only 8 am - 10 am regarding a order placed 4 days ahead of time for delivery, I was a little disappointed in the arrangement that was delivered due to product being out of stock. Roy did say an arrangement would still be delivered, but being sent a photo of the arrangement delivered, I do wish I would have just requested a refund.

I received a phone call that the order could not be delivered on the day I needed it. Phone call was received after I received an email saying it was delivered. I cancelled the order because I needed the flowers that day. I have not checked my credit card statement to see if it was refunded. Just a hassle. I usually order flowers (from website) while working offshore and unable to receive phone calls. Luckily I was home this time. I will be getting flowers somewhere else in the future.

The store never delivered flowers. When I called them, the person said “we did not get the order.” When they look on their computer, she said, “oh there it is. We can still deliver something today(a day late) but not what you ordered.” I had to cancel the order and the lady never apologized but blamed the website. How did you find it then? They just never checked their orders. I tried to support a local business but the lack of customer service was horrible. Never again.

The person I spoke to (who was not very friendly and in fact, sassy) said they did not have the correct flowers in stock. What they substituted looked fine, but nothing like what I ordered. The last time the delivery driver left bc of rain and never called or anything. They finally delivered that time but still wrong time and day.

I was a little disappointed because I ordered a Spathiphyllum Plant online but was later told that they didn't have that particular plant for that price. I was told they would replace it with an ivory. It was MUCH smaller. To be fair I did order the day. The staff was courteous and helpful! I would order from here again.

Services were never rendered, nothing was delivered and NO effort was made on their part to notify me, nor any attempt to communicate to me, that this purchase would not be handled. Only after I reached out, a 2nd time, 8 hrs after initial purchase did I get... "oh yeah, that order? i remember that... nah, we didn't deliver anything..." Yet, somehow, the $120 charge is still miraculously showing up on my CC statement, as of the following morning.
This is only 1 person's experience, but buying flowers to be delivered to a local funeral from this florist is pretty much a roll of the dice, I'm sorry to say.

Totally ignored my delivery date. Delivered on the day in which I ordered them, instead of a week later like I entered. Didn’t respond to my email about this.
It’s disappointing to spend $70 on a bouquet for mother’s day and have it delivered the wrong day a week before, so my card and the flowers don’t make much sense. Also you spent my name wrong on the card. So thanks for that.

The White Cross Standing Spray at my friend's wake and funeral was absolutely gorgeous: dozens of white roses with a diagonal accent of red roses that matched the enormous coffin bouquet. The standing spray was delivered on time for an 8:00 a.m. starting time for the wake. I was happy to discover that Roy-al Flowers and Gifts belongs to a nation-wide floral delivery service. Now I know where to go the next time I need to send flowers outside of Lafayette, LA. Note: I ordered the White Cross Standing Spray online and followed up with a phone call to the shop two days before the wake and funeral. I would advise a follow-up call to the shop in case of a possible glitch in the online ordering process, There had been no glitch with my order, but I like to be super-careful. The online order form includes a space for typing special instructions, and I used that space to convey various details of the delivery.

It has been my experience that funeral arrangements in general are greatly overpriced. However, I have dealt with Roy-al in the past and have been generally satisfied. I was somewhat embarassed at the arrangement that was delivered. If this is "deluxe" I can only imagine how sparse the regular Basket Dish Garden would be. It looked like I ordered the cheapest thing I could find. It was nowhere near worth the price.
I will shop elsewhere next time.

Arrangement I received looked nothing like picture above. I called to discuss with Leonard and he threatened to come pick up bouquet. He also stated that there are no guarantees in what arrangements will look like because flowers are seasonal.
He was completely rude and unprofessional when I expressed my dissatisfaction with the arrangement and really did not care to hear anything I had to say. Will never purchase anything from this rude place again!

I called the day of the scheduled delivery and asked them to wait until the next day after noon to deliver, which they did, as the recipient was not home the day of the original scheduled delivery. Upon delivery the next day, the delivery person stated that he was disappointed in the flower arrangement and would deliver ANOTHER one the following day. Two days later a BEAUTIFUL, large arrangement was delivered. My 70-year old step mother was beyond floored and delighted, and so am I. The flowers were not delivered on the 10th (Mother’s Day), they were delivered on the 9th. The site should have said Sunday delivery was not available but it didn’t. The flowers delivered were okay but looked nothing like what was pictured.

There was a slight miscommunication during the covid ordeal. I placed an order online to be delivered the following day. I received an email confirmation that the order went through. On the evening of delivery, I called to follow up on the delivery status. I was informed on the call that they were only working certain days of the week due to covid and the website shouldn't have allowed me to place an order. I was told I would get a credit for my purchase the next business day. After some disappointment, the owner asked what my order was and the occasion, and knew he didn't have what I ordered in stock but offered to go into the shop and put something together with what he had. Not only did he put together a last minute beautiful arrangement after hours, but he made the delivery happen on the scheduled day. This is what you call top notch customer service! If you are in the Lafayette area, I would highly recommend this company.
