Matthew David Norman approaches floral work as a practice of attention. Much of his sensibility was formed in New York, within environments where details matter and beauty is meant to be experienced without announcement. Away from the city, Matthew is also a grower. He hand-planted over 7,000 peony roots on his farm in upstate New York, an experience that continues to shape his thinking about patience, seasonality, and responsibility to the material itself. The physical labor of growing informs the care taken in designing — an ongoing dialogue between effort and refinement.
