About Us
Welcome to Gathered Stems, a floral couturier based in McLean, Virginia. Our signature botanical designs are inspired by nature, using fresh and dried flowers and greenery. Gathered Stems is a privately owned, small flower business that provides delivery service throughout Northern Virginia. We take great pride in bringing our clients’ visions to life to the surprise and delight of those who receive them. As a professional florist for over 30 years, I have learned two things: •No one knows flowers better than Mother Nature and •No one has better ideas than my clients Bringing your ideas to life is an honor, but it is also a tremendous joy! I have been captivated by flowers and floral design since my first job in a flower shop in the early 90’s. When I opened my own business, I found that using art and nature for inspiration provided a unique way to highlight the sensual nature of flowers. By playing up to simple design theory to enhance their textures and colors, I could present flower arrangements in a way that titillates the senses. I approach your flower delivery with creativity and imagination. Through experience and education, I have developed a critical eye and an elegant personal style that can be seen in the simplest bouquet and the most elaborate wedding alter. My favorite projects are the occasions in which I design unique floral arrangements inspired by the personality of the client and which highlight the natural beauty of the flowers selected. There is always an unexpected element, and that is often why my floral arrangements are so delightful. Gathered Stems Floral Couture has been highlighted in several print and digital magazines, but am extremely proud to have been featured several times in Engaged Magazine, a bridal magazine serving the DC Metropolitan area.

Hello Leigh! I appreciate your feedback and your business. The arrangement had that was pictured online had three spray roses and three standard roses in it as well as the arrangement that was delivered in your behalf. Perhaps the spray roses had more blooms per stem then the one pictured on the website. I am sorry this disappointed you.
That arrangement also had every variety of flower that was pictured online. Wax flower, hydrangea,, hypericum berry and lisianthus.

Dear Robert, My heartfelt apology for forgetting the plush animal with the flowers. I am extremely happy your daughter thought the flowers were lovely, however I completely understand how frustrating and disappointing it was for discovering the plush animal was left out. I take full responsibility on this error and I feel terrible this happened. After speaking with you on the phone Saturday morning, I felt so bad I went out and purchased a winter fleece blanket with a matching snowflake throw pillow and a plush Husky for your grand daughter. I know this does not change the fact of my error, but I want to let you know how badly I felt. Please accept my apology and I stride to turn things around in the future if you allow me that chance. Every gift ordered through BloomNation is personally hand-delivered by the local florist.
Each local florist sets their own delivery area and fee.
Most florists offer same-day hand delivery, but may have different order received
cut-off times for same-day delivery that are based off of the recipient’s time zone.
Florists that offer same-day delivery display their same-day delivery cut-off time in
their store detail section. Orders received after that time may be delivered the
following day. Please note some florists may not make deliveries on Sunday.
To request a specific delivery time, please type it into the Special Instructions field
