We are a well-established Portland area retailer who specializes in Exquisite Floral Art. Our clients run the gamut both professionally and personally; from well-known national and local companies to Portlanders old and new. Our clients order weekly arrangements for their waiting rooms, bright bouquets and blooming plants for their new hires, small soft-toned treasures for new babies, high style architectural lobby pieces for office openings, and centerpieces for holidays and parties as well as emotion inspiring pieces from one loved one to another. Each piece that leaves our door is sent with a handwritten message on a print of an original watercolor. Flowers in Flight has been hand-delivering premium floral arrangements and gift baskets to help strengthen relationships, give love and support, and celebrate life’s special moments since 1984. From birthdays to anniversaries to commemorating a loved one, and every little “just because” moment in between. Tanya & Julia Duncan
We are a family-owned business that began in the spring of 1984 as the original flower cart on Pioneer Courthouse Square in Portland, Oregon. For the first 20 years of operation, the 3 founding sisters worked to elate and educate clients and recipients alike with the beauty of fresh flowers. The popularity of the cart on the Square led to another in the Portland Building and then a small shop at the Skidmore Fountain Building. In 1988 we consolidated all operations to the historic George Lawrence Building at SW First and Oak in downtown Portland which remained our home until moving across the river to NE Alberta St. in 2015. The defining elements of “Flowers in Flight” floral art remain simplicity, elegance, and the unique qualities of locally grown flora. We are now in our 38th year and have for the past 18 years been owned and operated by 2 of the original 3 sisters: Mary Anne Huseby, floral artist extraordinaire, and Pat Hutchins, plant expert and watercolor artist. In 2012 Lily came in as the 2nd generation and spark of energy needed to round out the team. Lily Hutchins brings event planning expertise with a flair for marketing and customer service. In 2023 Mother Daughter Duo Julia and Tanya Duncan are continuing on the family business while leading the original sisters into retirement. They have a combined 21+ years of floral design & management experience in NE Portland. They are excited to bring a new energy to the shop, while keeping the original family values.

Our subscriptions allow you to select a delivery frequency that best suits your needs - either weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly.
How often will I be billed?
You will be billed 5 days before the delivery schedule you select (either weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly). This is to ensure your florist will have adequate time to prepare your order.
How do I make changes to my subscription plan?
You can call the florist any time before the scheduled delivery or pickup date to make changes to your subscription plan and orders.
Can I pause my subscription plan?
Yes, you can! contact us at (503) 274-7088, let us know the next best delivery date and we’ll pause your subscription.
How do I cancel my subscription plan?

My friend and I picked this arrangement because of its colors--especially that icy blue thistle! While I didn't get to witness its beauty in person (we ordered it online to be delivered) our recipient loved it and sent us pictures immediately. It turned out beautifully, and was delivered on time even though we had just ordered the evening before. Not being from Portland I picked this florist because their online selection features arrangements and color combinations that are unique yet classy--and most importantly not generic or boring. Someone at the main office in North PDX called task if it was OK to deliver a day early, due to the snow, freezing rain and falling trees common inPDX in February. Easy people to deal with and quite accommodating. I have used this company almost exclusively in the last several years because "what you see in the picture is what you get"! However, the arrangement arrived with only 2 inches of water in the vase and a number of stems were completely out of water. Because of the plastic over the vase opening it was too difficult to remove the stems and recut, so water was simply added to the vase. Unsure how long the blooms will last because of the dried stems.

The plants are lovely in this purchase. However, the potting was not as expected. Rather than terracotta or ceramic as expected, this arrived in a corrugated stainless steel pot. So my husband said “thanks for the plants, I’m going to move them to a ceramic planter”. Last thing I wanted to do was give him a birthday gift that created a chore for him. I ordered about a week in advance, and the flowers arrived right on time. The local delivery charge was very reasonable! And, most importantly, the flowers were fresh and so beautiful - even nicer than the website photo. My mom was over the moon with them. I'll definitely be ordering from Flowers in Flight for any future needs in Portland!

Every gift ordered through BloomNation is personally hand-delivered by the local florist.
Each local florist sets their own delivery area and fee.
Most florists offer same-day hand delivery, but may have different order received
cut-off times for same-day delivery that are based off of the recipient’s time zone.
Florists that offer same-day delivery display their same-day delivery cut-off time in
their store detail section. Orders received after that time may be delivered the
