Alison Carmody is one of the top florists in Ocean City, known for her artistic and eclectic floral work. Flowers by Alison has been in business and has kept Ocean City in full bloom for over 35 years now. She started her first shop back in 1982 at the 94th Street Mall and now can be found on Carmody Lane in West Ocean City.

The arrangement was beautifully crafted and while I didn’t notice at the time I ordered, the container is sturdy ceramic -not the standard clear glass vase- definitely a piece we’ll be keeping!

Surprisingly she was discharged from the hospital the same day I ordered the flowers and Alison was nice enough to call the hospital and organize delivery around my friend’s discharge. I live in Portland, Oregon and ordered flowers for my sister, who lives in Berlin, for her birthday. I asked for blue, white and yellow flowers, or some combination of those colors, knowing blue flowers can be hard to find. Flowers were supposed to be delivered yesterday and were not. The recipient was on alert to watch for a delivery all day and at 8 pm called me to say no delivery. I hated to disappoint an ill friend and was not at all happy that no one notified me that there was a problem and they would not be delivered as promised. I left 2 messages with the florist, but as yet have not heard from them. Their website said they were only open on Wednesdays so I’m left wondering when and if the order will be delivered?

I ordered the yellow roses, but they were out, so Allison herself called to let me know, and to offer me several different unique rose colors to choose from. I was able to pick another color that I actually preferred to send anyway (purple) and my friend absolutely adored the bouquet. Not only was the order process simple but Alison personally called me to let me know that the recipient had received something very similar to my order. I think this shop tries hard, but when someone is ordering from afar and not looking at the choices in the shop, the so called lavender hydrangea should be avoided. Especially now that we are in the Fall season, what I feel most customers want is bright Fall colors regardless of occasion.

I sent my cousin a similar arrangement called the Market Bundle for the loss of her dog. Very beautiful but FYI the flowers and basket were totally different from the photo. She loved it. She sent a photo of what was sent. They arrived that day and they did a fabulous job designing the arrangement with all kinds of unique flowers, greenery & basket. One of a kind !! Every gift ordered through BloomNation is personally hand-delivered by the local florist.
Each local florist sets their own delivery area and fee.
Most florists offer same-day hand delivery, but may have different order received
cut-off times for same-day delivery that are based off of the recipient’s time zone.
Florists that offer same-day delivery display their same-day delivery cut-off time in
their store detail section. Orders received after that time may be delivered the
following day. Please note some florists may not make deliveries on Sunday.
